The windmill had always been part of their village. It stood tall, its blades turning slowly with the breeze. People said it was magical, but only the children believed it. Lily and Jack had heard the tales from their grandparents. “They say the windmill tells stories,” Grandmother had told them.

“Let’s go inside,” Jack suggested, pushing the door open. The creaky sounds welcomed them into the dimly lit interior. They saw ancient machinery and dusty corners. Suddenly, the windmill’s whispers grew louder. “Welcome, young adventurers,” said a gentle voice. Lily looked around, trying to find the source. “Who are you?” she asked. “I am the Windmill Fairy,” the voice replied. “Find the enchanted stone in the forest,” the fairy instructed. “It’s hidden under the oldest oak tree.” Lily and Jack exchanged excited glances and ran outside. They reached the forest and searched for the oldest oak tree. “Here it is!” Lily shouted, pointing to a giant tree. They dug under its roots and found a glowing stone. Jack picked it up carefully. “Now what?” he wondered aloud. The wind suddenly picked up, carrying the fairy’s voice. “Place the stone on the sundial in the village square.”

Lily and Jack hurried back to the village, the stone in hand. They placed it on the sundial, and a bright light filled the air. The villagers gathered around, amazed by the spectacle. “Well done, young adventurers,” the Windmill Fairy said. “Your courage and teamwork have saved the magic.” Lily and Jack beamed with pride. The villagers cheered, and the windmill’s blades turned faster. From that day on, Lily and Jack were known as heroes. Whenever they wanted, they could hear the whispers of the windmill. The end
