“Look at this,” Alex said, pointing to a sketch on the map. “What do you think it means?” Cindy’s flashlight illuminated an ancient treasure chest in the attic’s corner. Diana peeked inside and gasped.
“Guys, there’s something else in here. It looks like a time-travel gadget!” Brian’s eyes widened, “A time-travel device? No way! We have to try it out!”
They all nodded eagerly, their curiosity piqued by the old map and mysterious gadget. Outside, the storm raged on, adding to the thrilling atmosphere.
The four friends had heard many stories about Riverville’s history from their grandparents. Founded two hundred years ago, Riverville was once a lively place for explorers and traders.
“So, what do you know about this old map?” Brian asked Cindy. She took a deep breath, “My grandma said it leads to hidden treasures. Riverville was known for its secrets, and many treasures have been lost over time.”
“Is that why she collected all these artifacts?” Alex inquired, looking around the attic filled with old items. “Yes,” Cindy answered. “She spent her lifetime researching and finding clues about these hidden treasures.”
Diana sighed, “Even if people didn’t believe her, she never gave up. This time-travel gadget might just prove she was right!” “I think we should follow the map,” Brian said, excitedly. “Who knows what amazing things we’ll discover?”
“Look at this note my grandma left,” Cindy said, pointing to a journal beside the map. “It explains each epoch and what treasures might be there.” “This one,” Diana pointed to a marker with a skull and crossbones, “says the age of pirates. It could lead to hidden treasure chests!”
Alex grinned, “Let’s set the device for the pirates’ era. We need to gather supplies and maybe even disguises.” The friends packed some essentials, including water, snacks, and tools. They also found old clothes in the attic to use as pirate costumes.
“Ready?” Brian asked, holding the time-travel device, which rumbled and glowed ominously. They all nodded.
The gadget’s noise grew louder, and in an instant, they were no longer in the attic. Salty sea air filled their lungs, and they found themselves aboard a pirate ship!
“Arr, who be ye, landlubbers?” growled a grizzled pirate approaching them. “We need to blend in fast,” whispered Diana, adjusting her pirate hat. “Let’s act like we belong here.”
The friends introduced themselves as new recruits, keen to join the pirate crew. They had to gain the trust of the fearsome pirate captain to find the treasure.
“Look,” said Alex, pointing to a carved stone chest, “This must be it!”
Brian knelt beside it. “There’s a riddle,” he said. “To claim the gold, answer this: What always runs but never walks?”
Cindy furrowed her brow. “Is it a river?”
Diana nodded. “Yes, that makes sense! A river runs but never walks.”
They all held their breath as Brian whispered the answer to the stone. Suddenly, the chest clicked open, revealing gold coins and sparkling jewels.
“Whoa!” exclaimed Alex, eyes widening.
Just then, the ship’s pirate crew stormed into the chamber. “They’re after our treasure!” bellowed one pirate.
“We need to solve this last riddle and get out of here!” Cindy urged.
Brian frantically read the final inscription. “To return home, choose the item that binds time and sea.”
Alex grabbed an ancient hourglass adorned with seashells. “This must be it!”
They held onto the hourglass, and the world around them began to blur and swirl.

“We did it!” Diana cheered, hugging Brian.
“We really traveled through time,” said Cindy, eyes wide with excitement.

“We should keep this a secret,” Cindy advised, locking the map and device back in the treasure chest.
“But we have to promise to go on more adventures,” Diana insisted.
“Definitely,” said Alex. “There are more treasures and stories to uncover.”
Hand in hand, the friends vowed to explore Riverville’s hidden past, ready for more time-traveling quests.
