Nina peeked out her window. It was very dark outside.
“Mommy, it’s too dark!” Nina said with a pout.
“Let’s make a nightlight festival,” Mommy said, smiling.
“A festival? What is that?” Nina asked, eyes wide.
Mommy explained, “A festival is like a big party.”
“We will use lights to make it bright and happy.”
Nina clapped her hands. “Yay, let’s start!”
“We need friends,” Mommy said. “Call them.”

Nina ran to her phone. She dialed her friends.
“Hello, Jake? Want to join a festival?” Nina asked.
“Yes!” said Jake. “What do we bring?”
“Bring flashlights and lanterns,” Nina said. “See you soon.”
Jake laughed. “I have a bright flashlight!”
Next, Nina called Lily. “Hi, Lily! Join my festival!”
“What do I need?” asked Lily, excited.
“Bring anything bright,” Nina said. “Quick, come over!”
Lily squealed. “I will bring my fairy lights!”

Soon, Jake and Lily arrived. They had bright lights.
“Let’s start!” Nina said, bouncing with joy.
Jake turned on his flashlight. It shone brightly.
Lily set up her fairy lights. They twinkled.
“Wow, this is beautiful!” Nina exclaimed, eyes shining.
Mommy brought out more lights. “Let’s hang these.”
They strung the lights around the yard. It sparkled.
“Look!” Nina said, pointing. “The whole yard is glowing!”
“Energy makes this happen,” Mommy said. “Light needs energy.”
“Energy is powerful!” Jake shouted, grinning.
Nina laughed. “Yes, it makes our festival bright!”

“Thank you, friends,” Nina said, hugging Jake and Lily.
“We made a festival!” Lily said, clapping her hands.
“And learned about energy,” Jake added, smiling.
Mommy hugged Nina. “Good job, sweetheart,” she said.
Nina yawned. “Time for bed?”
“Yes,” Mommy said. “Dream of fun lights.”
“Goodnight!” Nina said to her friends.
“Goodnight, Nina!” they replied.
Nina snuggled in bed, happy and warm.
The end.
