Lily and Max were playing by the shore when they saw something strange.
A bright light shimmered on the water.
“Look, Max! What is that?” asked Lily.
Max squinted at the glowing light.
“I don’t know, but let’s check it out!” he said.
The night was calm, and the waves were gentle.
The moon hung big and round in the sky.
As they reached the water, a mermaid rose from the sea.
Her tail sparkled like silver.
Lily and Max gasped in wonder.
“Hello, children,” said the mermaid with a smile.
“My name is Marina, and I have a magical adventure for you.”
Max looked excited. “Really? What kind of adventure?”
Marina laughed softly. “A moonlit dive under the sea.”
Lily’s eyes grew wide. “That sounds amazing! How do we do it?”
Marina held out her hand. “Hold on tight, and I’ll take you.”
They each took one of her hands, and she gently pulled them into the water.
As soon as they were underwater, Lily and Max could breathe easily.
“Wow! We can breathe!” shouted Max.
They swam deeper, seeing colorful fish and glowing plants.
“It is so beautiful here,” said Lily in awe.
Marina led them to a large coral castle.
“Welcome to my home,” she said.
An octopus waved its tentacles at them. “Hi there! I am Ollie!”
Lily giggled. “Hi, Ollie! Nice to meet you!”
Max and Lily saw dolphins twirling and laughing nearby.
“Want to join us?” asked the dolphins.
Max nodded. “Sure! Let’s go!”
They played tag with the dolphins and laughed the whole time.
Eventually, Marina said, “It is time to go back.”
Lily and Max felt a bit sad.
“But thank you for this wonderful adventure,” said Lily.
Marina smiled. “You are welcome anytime.”
They held Marina’s hands again, and she guided them back to the shore.
As they stepped onto the sand, Lily turned to Marina. “Will we see you again?”
“Of course,” said Marina. “Whenever the moon is full.”
Max waved. “Goodbye, Marina!”
Marina dived back into the sea, leaving a trail of sparkling light.
Lily and Max watched until she disappeared.
They looked at each other.
“That was the best adventure ever,” said Lily.
Max nodded in agreement. “I can’t wait to tell everyone!”
They walked home, hand in hand, excited to share their magical night.
