“Come on, Mia! We have to get to the castle before sundown,” whispered Tommy.
“I’m coming! Just needed my backpack,” replied Mia, running to catch up.
The friends had heard stories about a magic castle hidden in the woods.
“Do you really think it’s real?” asked Mia, her eyes wide with excitement.
“If it is, we’ll be the first to find it!” exclaimed Tommy confidently.
They climbed over logs and ducked under branches, the trees growing thicker around them.
“So, what did the old map say again?” Mia questioned as she glanced around.
“Follow the creek to where it bends like a rainbow,” Tommy explained, pointing ahead.
The creek’s waters glittered, and they soon reached its bend.
“I see something!” Mia shouted, spotting a shimmering castle hidden behind vines.
The castle had been a legend in their small town for years.
“Some say it was built by a wizard,” said Tommy as they walked closer.
Others believed it had treasures waiting to be discovered.
“Look at the shining stones in the walls,” Mia said, amazed. The stones sparkled in the sunlight.
“Let’s find a way inside!” Tommy urged, looking excited.
They found a large wooden door with intricate carvings.
“Ready?” Mia asked, her hand trembling slightly on the door handle.
“Ready,” Tommy confirmed with a determined nod.
Pushing the door open, they stepped into a grand, marble-floored hall.
“Wow! Look at those paintings!” Mia exclaimed, pointing out the colorful art lining the walls.

“Do you think anyone still lives here?” asked Tommy, his voice echoing.
“No idea. But it looks like someone took good care of it,” Mia observed.
They wandered from room to room, discovering the wonders of the castle.
“This place is amazing,” Mia said, admiring a golden chandelier.
“It’s like a dream,” Tommy agreed, touching an ancient tapestry.
Suddenly, they heard a soft, mysterious voice say, “Hello, children.”
Both froze in place. “Who said that?” Mia whispered, looking around.
“I did,” replied the voice as an old man in a cloak appeared in front of them.
“Who are you?” Tommy asked, trying to sound brave.
“I am the castle keeper,” the old man replied with a kind smile.

“You must solve the riddle to uncover the castle’s secret,” said the keeper.
“What riddle?” Mia was curious and eager to solve it.
“In the room with books high and tall, find the one that stands alone,” he instructed.
They rushed to the library, searching the shelves filled with old books.
“Here it is!” Tommy pointed to a single book that stood apart.
“Let’s open it,” Mia said, pulling it off the shelf. Inside was a map.
“It leads to the castle’s hidden treasure,” Tommy said, tracing the route with his finger.
“Look, there’s a trapdoor in the floor!” Mia pointed to a corner.
They lifted the trapdoor revealing stairs that went down into darkness.
“Ready for an adventure?” Tommy asked, gripping Mia’s hand.
“Always am,” Mia smiled, and they descended together.

At the bottom of the stairs, they found a treasure chest glowing with magic light.
“We did it, Mia!” Tommy cheered, opening the chest to reveal glittering jewels.
“I can’t believe it,” Mia said, her eyes wide with wonder.
“You have unlocked the castle’s secret,” the keeper said, suddenly by their side.
“What happens now?” Tommy asked, still holding a sparkling gem.
The keeper smiled warmly. “Now you share the tales of the magic castle and keep its magic alive.”
“Do we get to keep some of the treasure?” Mia asked shyly.
“Yes, take a gem each,” said the keeper. “Let it remind you of this adventure.”
With their pockets full and hearts even fuller, the children walked back home.
“Think anyone will believe us?” Mia asked as they left the castle behind.
“As long as we remember the magic, it doesn’t matter,” Tommy replied.
And so, Mia and Tommy returned to their small town, forever changed by their journey.
The end.
