One sunny day, Hare found a shiny kite.
“Look, look, my new kite!” Hare said.
He ran to the open field, ready to fly it.
“Do you want to see it fly, Squirrel?” asked Hare.
“Yes, yes, yes!” Squirrel clapped her tiny paws.
Hare loved playing outside with his friends.
He always wanted to fly a kite high.
This was his special rainbow kite, with a long tail.
He had never flown a kite all by himself.
“Hare, do you know how to do it?” Squirrel asked.

“I think I do,” Hare said, looking at the string.
The wind blew gently as Hare ran with the kite.
Up, up, up went the kite, but then down it came.
“Oh no!” said Hare, looking worried.
“Why did it fall, Squirrel?”
“Maybe the wind stopped,” Squirrel suggested.
Hare tried again, running faster this time.

Suddenly, the wind whooshed and lifted the kite high!
“Look, Squirrel, look at it go!” Hare cheered.
But a big gust pulled the kite away.
“It’s flying too far!” Hare shouted.
“What do we do now?” asked Squirrel, eyes wide.
“We chase it! Run, Squirrel, run!” Hare said bravely.

They both ran and jumped to catch the kite.
Finally, it gently landed on the soft grass.
“We did it, Hare! We found your kite,” Squirrel said.
Hare smiled brightly and hugged his kite tight.
“The wind is strong, and so are we,” he said.
“Can we try again tomorrow?” asked Squirrel.
“Yes, yes! Let’s fly the kite again,” Hare agreed.
The end.
