“Today is the zigzag race!” she said.
Her friends, Monkey, Elephant, and Giraffe, were excited too.
“Let us practice our zigzags,” said Monkey.

“Do not worry,” said Elephant.
“We will help you practice,” added Giraffe.
Monkey showed Zebra how to weave through trees.
“Zigzag like this,” he said, moving quickly left and right.

The race began with a loud trumpet sound.
Zebra felt a flutter in her belly.
She saw the finish line far away.
Monkey, Elephant, and Giraffe were zigzagging quickly.
“Keep going, Zebra!” they cheered.
Zebra moved left, then right, feeling more confident.
She was catching up to her friends.

With one last zigzag, Zebra crossed the finish line.
Her friends cheered loud and happy.
“You did it, Zebra!” said Monkey, hugging her.
“Thank you for helping me,” said Zebra.
“Practice makes us all better,” said Giraffe.
They all laughed and agreed.
