One sunny day, a grasshopper named Gus hopped along. He saw his friend, Bee, stuck in a flower. Help me, Gus! cried Bee. Gus said, I will help you! Gus pulled the flower open. Bee flew out, buzzing happily. Thank you, Gus! said Bee.

Gus loved helping his friends. He liked to think of clever ideas. All the insects knew Gus was smart. They often came to him for help.

Later, Gus saw Ant near a big rock. Ant looked worried. What is wrong, Ant? asked Gus. I can’t move this rock! said Ant. I need it for my home. Gus had an idea. Let’s push together! said Gus. Gus and Ant pushed the rock. The rock rolled away. Now I can finish my home! said Ant. Thank you, Gus!

Just then, Butterfly fluttered by. Butterfly was crying. Why are you sad, Butterfly? asked Gus. I lost my favorite leaf, said Butterfly. Don’t worry, said Gus. We will find it together. Gus and Butterfly looked under trees. They looked in the meadow. Finally, they found the leaf. Thank you, Gus! said Butterfly.

Gus was happy to help his friends. They all thanked him with smiles. Gus hopped away with a big grin. He knew he had made the day better. The End
