One evening, Anna and Sam played in their backyard.
“I want to stay up late,” said Sam.
“Me too!” Anna giggled.
The sky turned dark. Stars started to twinkle.
“Look, Anna!” Sam pointed. “Fireflies!”
“Wow! They’re like tiny stars,” Anna said.
Anna and Sam loved playing outside.
Every night they found new wonders.
Tonight was special.
The fireflies were everywhere, blinking lights.
“What makes them glow?” Anna asked.
“I don’t know,” Sam wondered.
Daddy came out to join them.

“Fireflies use light to talk,” Daddy explained.
“That’s so cool!” shouted Sam.
“Can we catch them?” Anna asked.
“Sure,” Daddy smiled, handing them jars.
But be gentle, he reminded.
The kids chased fireflies, giggling.
“Got one!” cheered Anna, holding a jar.
Sam watched his jar glow.

Suddenly, both jars glowed very bright.
“Look at that!” Sam gasped.
Anna’s jar had more lights now.
“Are they friends?” Anna asked.
“I think they’re talking,” Daddy said.
“Can we let them go?” asked Sam.
“Yes, they belong in the night,” Daddy nodded.
They opened their jars.
The fireflies flew out, lighting up the dark.

“That was amazing,” said Anna.
“Can we do this tomorrow?” Sam asked.
“Of course,” Daddy answered with a smile.
The kids waved goodnight to the fireflies.
“We learned so much,” Anna said happily.
“And had fun too!” Sam added.
They went inside, dreaming of firefly lights.
The end.
