In a cozy little house, lived a mouse named Nutmeg. Nutmeg loved to explore.
One sunny morning, she sniffed something new in the air.
“What is that?” wondered Nutmeg, twitching her tiny nose.
“I have to find out!”
Nutmeg lived with her family in a kitchen cupboard. The cupboard was full of yummy smells and delicious foods.
Nutmeg was a curious mouse. She loved finding new things.
Her friends, Pepper and Ginger, always joined her adventures.
Nutmeg scurried over to her friends.
“Pepper, Ginger, come with me!” she squeaked excitedly.
“Where are we going?” asked Pepper, bouncing around.
“We are going on a spicy adventure!” said Nutmeg.
Nutmeg led her friends to the big table. On the table were many jars with different colored powders.
Nutmeg opened the red jar first.
“What’s this?” she asked, sniffing.
“That’s chili powder,” said Ginger. “It’s very spicy!”
Nutmeg sprinkled a tiny bit near her nose.
“Ah-choo! That’s spicy!” Nutmeg laughed.
Next, they opened the yellow jar.
“This is turmeric. It’s not too spicy,” said Pepper.
Nutmeg tasted a little bit and smiled. “Yum, that’s nice!”
They moved on to the green jar.
“This is wasabi. Be careful, it’s super spicy,” warned Ginger.
Nutmeg took a tiny lick and her eyes went wide. “Whoa, that is very spicy!”
Suddenly, Nutmeg heard a noise.
“What’s that?” she asked nervously.
“It’s just the wind,” said Pepper.
“No, listen!” said Nutmeg.
The noise grew louder and louder.
“Oh no, it’s a cat!” shouted Ginger.
“Run!” yelled Nutmeg.
Nutmeg, Pepper, and Ginger dashed quickly back to the cupboard.
They closed the tiny door behind them and huddled together.
“Whew, that was close,” said Nutmeg.
“Yes, but we learned something new!” said Pepper.
“We learned about different spices,” added Ginger.
“And we stayed safe,” Nutmeg smiled.
“Next time, let’s take some cheese with us!”
They all laughed and settled down, dreaming of their next adventure.
