Jellyfish floated in the deep, dark ocean.
She glowed like a little star.
“Why do I glow?” Jellyfish wondered.
She asked her friend, Crab.
“Hello, Crab! Why do I glow at night?”
Crab pincered a bit of seaweed.
“Let’s find out, Jellyfish!”
Jellyfish’s glow lit their way.
They swam past coral and fish.
The ocean was quiet and calm.
Crab pointed to Fish swimming by.
“Fish, do you know why Jellyfish glows?”
Fish made bubbles and swam close.
“I don’t know, but let’s ask Starfish!”

They found Starfish on a rock.
Starfish was taking a nap.
“Starfish, why do I glow?” asked Jellyfish.
Starfish stretched his arms.
“Maybe Turtle knows,” Starfish said.
Turtle swam out from a cave.
Turtle heard the question too.

“Bioluminescence,” Turtle said softly.
“Bio-what?” asked Jellyfish.
“It means you make your own light,” Turtle explained.
“Why?” asked Jellyfish.
“To find friends, like us,” said Turtle.
Jellyfish smiled brightly.
Her glow was special!
“Thank you, friends!” she said happily.

They all swam together, a glowing team.
The ocean was no longer dark.
Jellyfish felt proud of her glow.
“Let’s light up the night!” said Crab.
They laughed and played in the sea.
Their lights made dancing shadows.
And Jellyfish’s big smile glowed even more.
The end.
