“Let’s hunt for treasure!” exclaimed Max.
His friends, Mia and Leo, nodded excitedly.
They stood at the edge of the old, spooky forest.
Max held a torn, old treasure map.
“I heard there’s a ghostly treasure in there,” said Mia with wide eyes.
Leo, who was always brave, said, “Ghosts or no ghosts, let’s go!”
They ventured into the forest, crunching leaves under their feet.
The sun had just set, casting long shadows everywhere.
Max and his friends had heard stories about the haunted forest.
Years ago, pirates buried their treasure in these woods.
Some said the treasure was guarded by a ghost.
Max found the old map in his attic last week.
His grandpa once told him the map led to riches.
Now Max and his friends were on a real adventure.
They walked deeper into the dark forest.

“Look!” said Mia, pointing to an ancient oak tree.
The map showed a huge tree in the center.
Max checked the map. “This must be the place.”
Leo picked up a shovel from his backpack.
He started digging at the base of the tree.
Suddenly, there was a rustling sound in the bushes.
Mia jumped. “What’s that?”
“It’s probably just an animal,” said Max.
But then they saw a shadowy figure.
It floated slowly towards them.
“Is that a ghost?” whispered Leo.
Max swallowed hard but stood his ground.
“Who goes there?” Max called out bravely.
To their surprise, the shadowy figure responded.
“I am Captain Greybeard, the pirate,” it said.

Leo’s eyes widened. “The pirate ghost?”
The ghost nodded. “Why are you digging here?”
Max held up the map. “We’re searching for your treasure.”
Captain Greybeard laughed. “Only the brave and true can find it.”
Mia stepped forward. “We are brave and true!”
Captain Greybeard looked at each of them.
“Then you must solve my riddle first,” he said.
The friends huddled together.
“We can do this,” Max said with confidence.
The ghost began, “I have keys but open no locks. What am I?”
Max thought hard. “Is it a piano?”
The ghost smiled, “Correct!”
He waved his arm, revealing a wooden chest.
Leo quickly dug it up.
The friends opened the chest together.
There, among old coins, were dazzling jewels.
“We did it!” cheered Mia.

Captain Greybeard watched them with a smile.
“You are brave and true,” he said.
“Thank you for guarding the treasure,” Max said.
The ghost nodded and began to fade away.
The children gathered their treasure and turned to leave.
“Let’s go home and share our story,” Leo suggested.
They walked back out of the forest.
Their adventure had come to an end.
But they would always remember the ghostly treasure hunt.
The end.
